RIP Gav

R.I.P. Gav - 21/9/2011 - Our beloved Gavin Larkin passed away this afternoon at 3.28pm. He was surrounded by his family and the love that he has created. He will never be forgotten for who he was, how he lived and what he has left behind. I know I speak on behalf of all that knew him when I say Gav, thank you for being you. The world is a better place for having had you in it.
The Larkin family would like to thank everybody who has contributed to this blog. The messages have been a constant source of support and wonderful memories that the family will cherish forever. They have been overwhelmed by all the good wishes, lovely words, food & flowers. The community around Gavin, Maryanne, Gus, Josie and Van has been wonderful and made an enormous difference. Thank you to all.

May we suggest, if you would like to offer further support, in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to one of the following nominated causes: RUOK? Day Donations or Cure For Life

To Gav

I’m writing the stuff I want to say to you….

So, lets start at the beginning. You are hot. I mean GQ cover hot, even when having chemo you looked better than Justin Beiber. Maybe even better than Brad Pitt before he married Angelina and grew that weird beard. But there is no question Maz scored. Lucky she is so beautiful inside and out or we’d all have tied her up and put her in a cupboard years ago….. J

You have incredible passion. I’ve not seen that in many humans like I have in you. You care about your family and feel that love so intensely it comes out of every pore. You protect and nurture like a lion but you never hibernate.

You never hide. You confront things, situations, feelings, issues and you live in your truth. You are generous and connected deeply to those around you. You are not afraid of hard work physically, mentally, spiritually and you never do anything by halves.

It is your ability to accept and live this part of your life with such intent and purpose, grace and honesty that says everything about who you are. Many people have followed your journey from varying distances, and throughout you have inspired us and taught us. Sometimes I wonder if you learnt things so well, that a higher power is stealing you to be a teacher………..

Whatever the reason, I will always be mad and sad about how things have turned out, but always so grateful to know you. Your example is a blueprint for us to carry on in your absence. I promise to love, honour and stalk Mazzy, Gus, Josie and Van for a very long time.

Love you lots, Bec xoxo
