RIP Gav
R.I.P. Gav - 21/9/2011 - Our beloved Gavin Larkin passed away this afternoon at 3.28pm. He was surrounded by his family and the love that he has created. He will never be forgotten for who he was, how he lived and what he has left behind. I know I speak on behalf of all that knew him when I say Gav, thank you for being you. The world is a better place for having had you in it.
The Larkin family would like to thank everybody who has contributed to this blog. The messages have been a constant source of support and wonderful memories that the family will cherish forever. They have been overwhelmed by all the good wishes, lovely words, food & flowers. The community around Gavin, Maryanne, Gus, Josie and Van has been wonderful and made an enormous difference. Thank you to all.
May we suggest, if you would like to offer further support, in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to one of the following nominated causes: RUOK? Day Donations or Cure For Life

What a great legacy RUOK? is for the whole community. But it didn’t happen by itself. It took the most incredibly focused and, dare I say it, pig-headed determination of someone to make it happen. I am so proud to have helped in a small way help Gavin get this initiative off the ground. I recall visiting him at Brand Shop’s Paddington digs for one of the very early meetings and thinking to myself “This is a brilliant idea – but it’s madness. It crosses too many established interests and they’ll never let it get off the ground. The government will like it, but it will be too hard for them to fund it.” How wrong I was! And there’s one simple reason why I was wrong: he’s called Gavin Larkin. Here is an individual with guts, determination, passion, belief and a truly selfless sense of benefit to others. Where a hundred others have failed with worthy projects, Gavin was able to succeed. He’s a true inspiration to me and many others. Mate, you’re going to need all that guts, determination and passion in the months ahead – I’ll be thinking of you and sending lots of positive vibes your way.
